It was summer until you couldn&#8217;t wear your flip flops (sometimes summer lasted until November). It was Sunday until 1 a.m. Monday morning. It&#8217;s Thanksgiving until all the leftovers are finished.<\/p>\n<p>So. Happy Thanksgiving, Part II, to many of you.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s poster is a post-Thanksgiving PSA, brought to you by the WPA, whose artists were making sure the nation had nice bright teeth without cranberry skins in between them. SO. After you make that nice turkey omelette this morning, do brush. Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s still Thanksgiving weekend, time to give thanks for silliness. Copyright \u00a9 1997 Signal Books.  <\/p>\n<p><b>In memory of George Lewis, Great Jazzman<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1<\/p>\n<p>Man is the animal that knows<\/p>\n<p>the clarinet<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;makes his living<br \/>on the docks, a stevedore,<br \/>110 lbs., carrying what loads<br \/>he can<\/p>\n<p>the Depression comes along,<br \/>his teeth rot, no money, and<br \/>he has to accept silence<\/p>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen years<br \/>later <br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;they put the instrument<br \/>back together<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;with rubber bands<br \/>bought him<\/p>\n<p>new teeth<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and then he began<br \/>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Read the whole of this joyful celebration of music and life <a href=\"http:\/\/writersalmanac.publicradio.org\/index.php?date=2005\/12\/14\" target= _blank>here<\/a>.
