Shortly thereafter we were introduced to the hilarious character in the award winning book <a class=\"bodylink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.coleensalley.com\/books\/epossumondas.htm\">&#8220;Epossumondas&#8221;<\/a>, illustrated by Janet Stevens (Harcourt Inc.). Epossumondas tales continue to delight everyone in <a class=\"bodylink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.coleensalley.com\/books\/why_eposs.htm\">&#8220;Why Epossumondas Has No Hair On His Tail&#8221;<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coleensalley.com\/books\/eposs_saves.htm\" class=\"bodylink\">&#8220;Epossumondas Saves The Day.&#8221;<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>via <a href=\"http:\/\/halseanderson.livejournal.com\/208342.html\" target= _blank>Laurie Halse Anderson<\/a>&#8216;s blog:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Author and children&#8217;s literature expert <b><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.coleensalley.com\/main.htm\">Coleen Salley<\/a><\/b> has recently had a down-turn in her health and has entered a retirement home. Coleen wrote the <i>Epossomundas<\/i> books, helped found the <b><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.coleensalley.com\/foundation\/found_main.htm%22\"> Coleen Salley\/Bill Morris Literacy Foundation<\/a><\/b> and spread the good news about children&#8217;s literature across the world. <\/p>\n<p>She recently had a birthday and would be very cheered by any and all cards. And this was in the second half of a full and vibrant life, being a college professor and telling stories. This lady deserves a card, dontcha think? I am relieved that <a href=\"http:\/\/oinks.squeetus.com\/2008\/07\/a-wee-bit-close.html\" target= _blank>other people<\/a> have had to wrestle this summer as well &#8212; perhaps someday this pain will be useful to me.
