Via AS IF!<\/a> comes something that’s much less of a laughing matter–the Catholic League is up in arms about the Golden Compass movie<\/a>. Arthur Slade has posted a fascinating and insightful critique of the Catholic League’s press release, which claims that Pullman’s trilogy was “written to promote atheism and denigrate Christianity, especially Roman Catholicism.” However, that criticism is tempered ever-so-slightly by their admission that the upcoming movie is “based on the least offensive of the three books,” according to the Catholic League president.
