Ooh! Via &#8212; somebody&#8217;s blog the other day, (sorry, have lost the link now &#8211; was it Bookshelves of Doom?) I discovered the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/blog\/\" target= _blank>Powell&#8217;s Books Blog!<\/a> (Go, independent booksellers, whoo!) This is an entertaining blog of short reviews and opinions, AND it has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/blog\/?p=2524\" target= _blank>YA content and CONTESTS<\/a>. Yes. Just what you needed: another awesome blog in the blog reader&#8230; But go there anyway. It&#8217;s well worth your time.<\/p>\n<p>The Guardian Arts <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.guardian.co.uk\/books\/2007\/10\/childrens_nightmares_adult_ent.html\" target= _blank>blog<\/a> is about YA dystopia. The author mentions Catherine Fisher&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.booksense.com\/product\/info.jsp?affiliateId=ReadersResponse&amp;isbn=br \/9780340893609\" target= _blank>Incarceron<\/a>, and I note its place on my shelf with glee. <\/p>\n<p>Thoroughly non-YA &#8211; myriad people read <a href=\"http:\/\/postsecret.blogspot.com\" target= _blank>PostSecret<\/a>, the blog. How many people will read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.booksense.com\/product\/info.jsp?affiliateId=ReadersResponse&amp;isbn=br \/9780060899196\" target= _blank>PostSecret, the Book<\/a>? Now in its <i>fifth<\/i> volume, the &#8220;Extraordinary Confessions of Ordinary People&#8221; continue to fascinate. I admit to finding the blog sort of intriguing, but also sort of disturbing. <i>Mostly<\/i> disturbing. By now I wonder if anyone is really telling real secrets anymore, or has it all become a sort of street theater? Anyway&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Via <a href=\" br \/http:\/\/ypulse.com\/\" target= _blank>Ypulse<\/a>, another visit to the UK&#8217;s newest cool YA spot &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spinebreakers.co.uk\/Pages\/Home.aspx\" target= _blank>Spinebreakers<\/a>, where 13-18 year olds celebrate their favorite books by providing author interviews, alternate endings, videos, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spinebreakers.co.uk\/Creative\/Pages\/Slampostercompetition.aspx\" target= _blank>interactive content<\/a> to reach their reading peers. Some excellent interviews with Meg Rosoff, Nick Hornby and others. Since it launched in September, Spinebreakers has really taken on a professional look, and continues to have great content. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spinebreakers.co.uk\/Pages\/AboutUs.aspx\" target= _blank>Penguin Books<\/a> has outdone itself.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_nIccA6r7lXY\/RxSRgQdq0eI\/AAAAAAAAASU\/GgAKjbSanbs\/s1600-h\/robertssnow_logo.jpg\" target=_blank title=\"click to enlarge in new window\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" hspace=10 align=right src=\"https:\/\/writingya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/robertssnow_logo.jpg\" \/><\/a>It only <i>seemed<\/i> impossible until Jules and Eisha coordinated over sixty-five bloggers into a concentrated effort to promote awareness of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute fund raiser called <i>Robert&#8217;s Snow<\/i>. Now, it&#8217;s just what&#8217;s being discussed <i>over<\/i> breakfast. Yesterday&#8217;s count of <i>one hundred and sixty nine blogs<\/i> talking up the auction was music to our ears. A little effort from everybody, and we <i>can<\/i> make a difference. Check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=934\" target= _blank>beautiful snowflake<\/a> at <i>Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast<\/i> and find out <a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?page_id=935\" target= _blank>today&#8217;s snowflake gallery schedule<\/a>. It includes the incomparable <a href=\"http:\/\/www.selinaalko.com\/childrens.html\" target= _blank>Selina Alko<\/a>, hosted at <a href=\"http:\/\/chavelaque.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/roberts-snow-selina-alko.html\" target= _blank>Brooklyn Arden.<\/a> Alko&#8217;s art is a new discovery of mine &#8212; so go, go, browse, ooh and aah.
