You review it on your blog &#8211; negatively. You&#8217;re gobsmacked by just how bad it is. You talk about its offensiveness once or twice, and then you move on. And then <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediabistro.com\/galleycat\/lit_crit\/author_panned_by_blogger_files_lawsuit_65449.asp\" target=\"_blank\">you get served.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediabistro.com\/galleycat\/\" target=\"_blank\">GalleyCat<\/a> carried this story, which reminded me of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefirstamendment.org\/shieldlaw.html\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;shield law,&#8221;<\/a> which serves to protect journalists and others who write for pay, and which is a hot topic in our state. I am of the opinion that the blogger in question is only being sued because they blog for a firm which has a goodly amount of cash. What about people who don&#8217;t have the resources to be sued for $15 million in damages? Does this affect your thinking about how you review books at all?<br \/>Guardian UK arts blogger Peter Bradshaw longs for the days of <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.guardian.co.uk\/books\/2007\/08\/bring_back_childrens_dinosaur.html\" target=\"_blank\">gimlet eyed, bloody<\/a> dinosaurs, while the Telegraph laments what could be the end of a great literary tradition &#8212; because, of course, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/opinion\/main.jhtml;jsessionid=NEB2IDPMMU00JQFIQMGCFFOAVCBQUIV0?xml=\/opinion\/2007\/08\/20\/do2005.xml\" target= _blank>smoke ban<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lots to see and read but Blogger is behaving stupidly today, so I&#8217;m off for a bit&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, say you don&#8217;t like someone&#8217;s book.
