Good news!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TWO FRIENDS of mine &#8212; count it &#8212; <em><b>two<\/b><\/em> of my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mills.edu\">Mills girlz<\/a> have received acclaim in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smartwriters.com\">SmartWriters W.I.N. contest!!!!<\/a> That&#8217;s just made my Monday morning. I&#8217;m so proud I could go all girly and squeal! Go <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aquafortis.blogspot.com\">A.Fortis!<\/a>, who placed third in the YA category, and kudos to you, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tenniswithwall.blogspot.com\">MeiMei!<\/a>, who has a very honorable mention &#8211; with the words <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\">New Yorker<\/a> and her story mentioned in the same sentence. This is BIG!!!! I&#8217;m so excited about them getting in, and connecting with an ANTHOLOGY! (We all know this is my not-so-secret dream.)<\/p>\n<p>[PS:If your stories, like mine, did NOT make it into the anthology, consider reworking them and maybe submitting to <a href=\"www.cricketmag.com\/pages_content.asp?page_id=22\">Cicada<\/a> or some other YA magazine. There are plenty of options and places that are looking for good stories.]<\/p>\n<p>In more good news, there&#8217;s a great bunch of editors who are actively seeking to update their lists for middle-grade and YA writers. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smartwriters.com\/index.2ts?page=swjdec2005\">SmartWriters.com<\/a> reported on a couple of folks looking for expand their lists. Ginger Clark, Anna Olswanger and <a href=\"mailto:lauren@firebrandliterary.com\">Lauren Barnhardt<\/a> have posted their addresses and what they&#8217;re after specifically.
