Sadly, I did bring some work with me, but only a minimum of such, which, for me, is pretty good. The importance of our trips to the Big Island&#8211;besides visiting good friends&#8211;is getting the chance to slow down our pace for a while. That is not normally my strong suit.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I&#8217;ve saved up a few interesting items for your perusal:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp;First, a few writing-related articles from the Writer&#8217;s Digest newsletter: a rather useful set of tips on how to avoid and fix <a href=\"http:\/\/www.writersdigest.com\/online-editor\/5-ways-to-deal-with-word-repetition?et_mid=613492&amp;rid=3118819\" target=\"_blank\">word repetition<\/a> (I am extremely guilty of overusing &#8220;just&#8221; and &#8220;really&#8221;&#8230;) and some thoughts on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.writersdigest.com\/editor-blogs\/there-are-no-rules\/knowing-when-to-stop-expectations-for-a-satisfying-ending?et_mid=613492&amp;rid=3118819\" target=\"_blank\">writing a satisfying ending<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>Recently, we <a href=\"http:\/\/writingya.blogspot.com\/2013\/05\/nothing-can-possibly-go-wrong-in-q-can.html\" target=\"_blank\">interviewed <\/a>the authors of the graphic novel <i>Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong<\/i> and asked them five questions about the process of writing and crafting. For another inside peek, and a very different set of questions, check out David Elzey&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/guyslitwire.blogspot.com\/2013\/05\/interview-prudence-shen-faith-erin-hicks.html\" target=\"_blank\">interview <\/a>with them on Guys Lit Wire. <\/li>\n<li>Lastly, I got an e-mail announcement regarding the<br \/>\n launch of the new <a href=\"http:\/\/imagination.ucsd.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination<\/a> at the<br \/>\nUniversity of California, San Diego: &#8220;The center will honor the late<br \/>\n author and innovator, and will be an interdisciplinary center where<br \/>\nresearchers in the arts, sciences, medicine and technology will come<br \/>\ntogether to unlock the mysteries of imagination.&#8221; How cool does <i>that<\/i> sound?
