Review Policy

Thank you for checking our review policy before emailing us with digital copies of the book you’d like us to review. We appreciate that!

Our review policy at Wonderland is fairly simple. First and foremost, we ONLY review already published YOUNG ADULT FICTION (including graphic novels), and MIDDLE GRADE FICTION, with a specific preference for diverse and inclusive literature highlighting undeserved communities. THAT BEING SAID, we are two writers who are doing a whole lot less reviewing these days, except of books which interest us personally. If you contact us with nonfiction, picture books, easy-readers, or adult fiction, we will assume you don’t actually “know” us, and we won’t reply. Please, absolutely no unpublished manuscripts. We are NOT a publishing house, we’re two writers who read, write, and occasionally recommend books. We will NOT read your unpublished manuscript.

Secondly, unless we have a prior arrangement with you individually, we are not at this time accepting unsolicited or random books for review. This means that if you send an email with an attachment, it will not be read, and further, you’ll have wasted time and effort. Don’t. PLEASE CONTACT US FIRST before sending review copies of any sort (wndrland (at) sonic (dot) net).

Understanding the tremendous financial and ecological impact publishing entails, we are both set up to receive digital copies using NetGalley and Edelweiss, but both have an affectionate preference for plain old paper books.

We love making contact with readers and writers and getting the opportunity to review books, but please note: this blog is the volunteer effort of two full-time writers, nor do we make a practice of moving our reviews to venues like Amazon.com, Goodreads.com, or Smashwords. You are welcome to link back to our reviews on those sites, but we prefer to keep things on our blog, where we own all content copy. We cannot – and will not – agree to every review request, nor do we guarantee to review unsolicited review copies of books sent to us. We will consider all queries and review copies sent our way but we regret that we are not able to respond to every email query. If you don’t hear from us within a week or two, please assume we are not able to accept your request/offer. Though we make a sincere effort to write about as many as we can, we won’t ever be able to cover every book. Thank you for understanding our policy, and helping us do what we do best.
